Sing for the Spirit

The hymn chosen for Pentecost (Sunday 31 May) is All over the world. You are invited to join in the singing of this hymn at home when the service is broadcast on the website, but you might like to help record the hymn and be part of a virtual choir which will be heard on the recording. We are particularly keen to hear children’s voices, with or without adults.

Here’s what you have to do. Below you will find a backing track and the words of the hymn. You need to listen to the backing track on headphones, and sing along on your own or with other family members. You will need to record yourself on a phone or a tablet, so that the backing track is not audible on the recording. The backing track has an intro and then the five verses of the hymn. Once you have a recording you are happy with, send it as an email attachment to holycrossgreenford@gmail.com

With luck Jill Marsh can then overlay the individual recordings to create a virtual choir.

Good luck, and enjoy singing in praise of the Holy Spirit.

This is the backing track

All over the world the Spirit is moving
All over the world as the prophets said it would be
All over the world there’s a mighty revelation
Of the glory of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea

All over this land the spirit is moving
All over this land as the prophets said it would be
All over this land there’s a mighty revelation
Of the glory of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea

All over the church the spirit is moving
All over the church as the prophets said it would be
All over the church there’s a mighty revelation
Of the glory of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea

All over us all the spirit is moving
All over us all as the prophets said it would be
All over us all there’s a mighty revelation
Of the glory of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea

Deep down in my heart the spirit is moving
Deep down in my heart as the prophets said it would be
Deep down in my heart there’s a mighty revelation
Of the glory of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea
