STUDY There will be Lent study groups during the weeks of Lent. The Mothers’ Union will host one group, and there will be a group meeting after the 9.15am service on Wednesdays in the Rectory (starting 8 March). The group discussions and activities will focus on the Lord’s Prayer and its meanings.
READING AND PRAYER There are a number of books with readings for the days of Lent. One book that is particularly helpful is the poetry collection The Heart’s Time by Janet Morley (published by SPCK), which has a poem and a reflection for each day of Lent.
GIVING During Lent we will be collecting for the ALMA charity, the group that links the Diocese of London with Anglican churches in Angola and Mozambique. The Rt Rev Manuel Ernesto, Bishop of Niassa in Mozambique, recently visited the church for the Edward Betham Candlemas service and then met with children in each class of the school. His descriptions of what life was like in Mozambique made the link between the two dioceses more tangible and the school is hoping to restore a link that was broken some years ago.
To help you in your giving take home one of the Little Church money boxes which are available after the service today. The boxes are numbered, so sign for the one you have taken, fill it up during Lent, and return it on the Sunday after Easter. All monies collected will be sent to ALMA.
